With the increased focus from government on environmental protection, be it through reduction in energy usage, atmospheric protection or reduced landfills, any project using composites must consider their use or disposal after they have served their primary function to the fullest. For composites, a recycling policy must consider both the fibre and the resin. In addition the type and nature of the fibre and the class of resin (thermoset or thermoplastic) has an influence on its recyclability. However, the main issue is the resin type and these are considered separately.
