Chesterfield

Chesterfield is renowned for its crooked spire and outdoor marketplace. The market place has been in existence since the 12th century and today has over 200 Stalls It is believed the crooked spire was built in the 14th Century by in- experienced builders who used wood that had not been seasoned correctly. Over the next few decades, as the wood dried out the spire took on its now familiar shape.

The Peak National Park

National wonders range from the heights of black rock and tor to the depth of fantastic caverns such as Treak Cliff, where the beautiful translucent mineral called Blue John is found. Above ground, stately homes such as Hardwick Hall and Chatsworth maintain their own timeless aristocratic atmosphere. The Peak district seems to be dominated by a rocky grandeur but is softened by ravishing stretches of green such as Dove Dale with it's sparking rivers and beautiful walks.
