Thermoplastic Composites Infrastructure Co-operation Network

The 2 main aims of this network are to improve the exchange of information between the partners and increase the coordination of access to the network's infrastructures by external researchers.

Specific objectives are to:

  • Transfer knowledge and best practice between research infrastructures aligned with different sectors
  • Stimulate and encourage working visits and tenures by external researchers, to understand the capabilities of each complementary infrastructure
  • Identify gaps in European research infrastructure, compared to future requirements and other geographical regions
  • Develop partnerships for future research and infrastructure cooperation

The relevance of this project is primarily in promoting complementary development or research programmes and in the creation of a virtual infrastructure to coordinate the access of external researchers to the unique facilities, skills and activities of the partnership. The network will do this by in-depth assessment and transfer of the existing knowledge of each of the partners to identify key areas of skill, as well as mapping the gaps in existing and future research infrastructures.

The project also has links to other groups working towards industrial use of thermoplastic composites, including the European Alliance of Thermoplastic Composites and Thermoformnet, a UK network.
