Composites Evolution is a young, unique company manufacturing and supplying innovative, sustainable composite materials to industry. Our product portfolio includes high performance natural fibre textiles, self-reinforced plastics and recycled composite materials. Due to our current expansion and success in winning new projects, we are now seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Materials/Applications Development Engineer to take on a key role in developing new products and customer applications, initially for our Biotex range of natural composite materials.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing new materials which meet customer requirements
• Developing new applications, prototype parts etc.
• Preparation of samples
• Testing, assessment and quality
• Liaising closely with new and existing suppliers
• Providing technical support to customers
• Supporting marketing activities including trade shows and conferences 

We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and dedicated individual who has the initiative and energy to help drive our business forward in-line with our expansion plans. Ideally, we are looking for someone with the following experience and characteristics:

• At least 2 years’ experience in materials/applications development
• Good knowledge of composite materials, polymers or textiles
• A good degree in engineering or related science
• Self-motivated and ambitious
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Full UK driving licence

The ideal candidate will have an excellent track record in composite materials development and be able to commit to relevant UK and European travel. Knowledge of biocomposite materials would be an advantage, although not essential.

The post is based at Composites Evolution’s Chesterfield location with modern offices and facilities. Chesterfield is a much sought-after location on the edge of the Peak District, one of the most beautiful areas of the UK, and is commutable from areas such as Sheffield, Derby, Nottingham, Mansfield and Matlock.
