Surface Finishes for Improved FRP Performance
8 March 2012, Chesterfield, UKFibre reinforced polymers (FRPs) can be formulated to withstand a variety of service environments and to satisfy many specific end-use requirements. The surface finish of fibre reinforced polymers can be used to enhance the aesthetics and/or function of the piece. In process technology, gel/flow coats, in-mould films and sprays are just some of the techniques used to help composite materials meet their design brief where the surface finish of a part can also affect wear resistance and bonding methods. Surface finishes can be highly refined or they may be textured, and parts can be large or small, simple or complex, overall giving great flexibility in design. Aim of the Event This event will look at why a particular surface finish is used and new techniques and products within the industry.
